Daniel Hutchens has been preaching the glory of rock n roll with his band Bloodkin for a couple of decades and with this, his third solo release, he's asking us to once again sip from the Holly Grail, only this time he's spiked it with some bourbon-laced, American-styled truth. Or maybe lies. Who knows? Who cares? Without mistreating the metaphor too much, this record is a revelation. I defy you to find another track released this year as eerie as American Country Ghosts, or one as full of promise as Girls In Summer Dresses.

Picks: American Country Ghosts, Epitaph Town.
